On February 27, it was Warren’s 50th birthday! I made sure to tell people it was his birthday all day long, so that he got a lot of attention!
The hotel put up a banner on the room door, and moved us from a room with two small beds to a room with one king sized bed. They also left a nice birthday note on the table. The new room also had a nice view, compared to the old one which had no view at all.

Our adventure that day was swimming with dolphins (I know this can be a controversial topic, but these ones were happy and well and cared for with love), feeding manatees, and interacting with a sea lion. I was a little nervous going into the dolphin pool, but more excited, as swimming with dolphins is an item on my life list!
We got to do a dolphin push, where they come behind you and push you forward with their noses on your feet; dancing with a dolphin, and a kiss, as well as being pulled through the water, holding on to their dorsal fins!
We were instructed where we were allowed to gently touch them when they swam up to us, and where to avoid because they didn’t like it.
Fun fact about dolphins-in the wild, they can live up to around 12 years, but the ones we interacted with were only a few years younger than me! Unfortunately I forgot their names, but they were both female, one was the alpha, and they were 39 and 42 years old!
After the dolphin encounter we got into the manatee pool and got to feed a lovely, gentle manatee named Dorothea! When you are feeding them, I didn’t know they come up to you and hold you with their fins, so I was caught a little off guard. But it was oddly comforting! They feel so rough and are covered in green algae, which acts like sunscreen for them! From petting them, I found out their arm pit area is really soft!
Lastly, we were introduced to a beautiful, mischievous sea lion named Julio. He was adorable, and liked to show off. He gave Warren a sweet birthday kiss!
Later, back at the resort, we spent a little time at the infinity pool before going for a lovely supper, where they had decorated our table with confetti, and sang to Warren when they brought out a lovely birthday dessert! All in all, a wonderful day!
We both got burnt after being in the pools with the sea creatures for hours. Me, more so than him. I decided not to wear sunscreen because I thought it might be bad for our animal friends.
I’m glad I brought my after sun spray from Young Living, which helped a lot with cooling the skin and healing!
