On March 2, we finally made it to the beach! I opted for shade, while Warren wanted to soak up the sun like a lizard on a rock.
We swam in the little cove in the adult only area of the resort, and were delighted to find out there are friendly fish in there! They swim around you while you’re frolicking in the water!

There are also iguanas EVERYWHERE!! One of the guys at the resort told me that the males each have a harem of lady lizards! We usually saw one to three females in the vicinity of each male. The females are smaller and look less “manly”. The females also tend to be more skittish.
One day, when I was on the balcony off our room, there was an intoxicated young lady who I watched get down on the sidewalk to offer some of her drink to an iguana! She’s like “hey buddy! Do you want to share my drink with me??”. He declined, and took off into the hedge! I just shook my head and laughed to myself.

Later that evening, we had a romantic dinner on the beach. It was incredibly windy! But at least the wind was warm. We spent a lot of time and effort trying to keep the table cloth from flying up and into our meals. The food was amazing! But the highlight of the meal for me was the dessert! It was a beautiful heart shaped mousse with fruit and cocoa filling.
There are a few different restaurants over the resort complex that offer the romantic dinner. It was hard to choose which one, and it ultimately came down to which evening was available, depending on what we had planned that day.

The appetizer was a goat cheese “salad”. I found it to have just too much cheese and not enough salad. But-look at the detail! The presentation of the cheese in a shell shape was clever, especially since the name of the restaurant is Fruits del Mar!

The main course was lobster. We were happy that it came to the table as a tail only, and didn’t have to take it apart at the table in the crazy wind!

Our waitress was amazing! It really impressed me how many employees at the resort spoke multiple languages. They go out of their way to cater to the guests! We also didn’t realize how many of the people working at the resort, or driving tour buses, working on boats, cab drivers, etc., depended on tips from tourists as part of their living wage! It’s a good thing we brought pesos, and ended up using a lot of the cash we brought to tip. They are also always very grateful when you tip them, whether the amount is big or small.

After we ate, we walked back to the main lobby of the resort. It looks so beautiful at night, with the lighting in the pools, and under the bridges.
In the evenings there is always live music, and dancing in the common area of the lobby by the pool. Twice during our stay there was a silent techno party, where people wear headphones and dance to the music played through their headphones by a deejay! It’s fun to watch, and many people sing out loud, just enjoying the experience!
